Coaching is not done to you …

But teaching is. The teacher tells you what to do and thinks the more he tells you the better the lesson. Your role is to follow blindly and to follow the status quo. But is this the best way?

Coaching is a joint venture. There needs to be connection and trust – this is a must. And it’s not about filling you up with rules, swing tips and lots of info.

Sometimes the coach won’t say much at all. He’ll leave the exploring (and learning) to you. This will make you uncomfortable but research shows this is a better way to learn.

We tend to doubt our learning system so we seek out a teacher. But to make significant change and play remarkably I’ll argue that coaching is a better fit.
