Dumb Shot Addiction

Do you let stupid shots ruin your score?

Like when you go for the hero shot when you know you should play safe?

Pesky is the biggest problem here. That little voice that’s in your ear and he keeps telling you, “Go for it! You can do it”.

And the second the ball leaves the clubface you can see your error. The regret hits hard, “I knew I would stuff it up! I should have chipped out. I’m such an idiot/dickhead/loser”.

These poor shots become a nasty habit. We become addicted to keeping Pesky happy, falsely believing that doing so keeps us safe.

But it’s the worse thing you can do. Playing safe (listening to Pesky) gets you nowhere. You’ve got to do what you really want. I’ve been saying for a really long time that you’ve “got to play your way”.

Next time you’re out pay close attention to those voices. Hear them. Pay attention. But ultimately ignore them.

Hit the shot you know is right. Not the one fear is telling you to.
