Just a side note. I think you will find that quite a lot of good golfers from years gone by adopted this, “come from the side” approach. There are many YouTube videos out there of old championships which highlight this style.

Timbo: Yep for sure. There was less fluffing about by the old timers and they played more instinctively.

I gave it a go and quite liked it. It was something about looking at my target from a different angle that I enjoyed. The real change was the walk to the ball. My eyes were not glancing up at my target, looking sideways at hazards or trying to find a spot in front of the ball to line up with. I felt like there was no second guessing and it was as though I was just walking up to a rock(as you’d say cam) and giving it a whack. Will definatly keep giving it a go and see where it leads.

MM: that’s why I like it. I think you’re spot on with your observations.

Cam are you saying you stand to the side behind the ball or is it different to that ?

Lukey, type RAY into the search box on the web page and then scroll down to the second page of results. There will be a blog titled AUTOMATIC GOLF ( CASE STUDY). There is a video of a golfer with a preshot routine in which he starts by standing off to the side of the ball. Hope this helps.
