Golf game review video

Here’s a video of Des hitting a drive on his home golf course. He’s a very good player but hadn’t seen his swing/game on video for a while. There’s some good lessons here for every golfer. Feel free to leave your comments below. Thanks to Des for letting me share this lesson.

Resources:

The Shuggy Swing Trainer is ideal to use to learn how to stop hitting the ground first with your driver. This is still my favourite training aide for learning how to swing your driver with more confidence.

Thanks Des for letting us have a look at how you go about it. Cameron’s comments help the rest of us too! I like that you really move your weight through the ball and that you end up nicely balanced at the end – a good sign that you’re swinging well within yourself. I thought Cameron’s comments about your “march” to the ball and the need to just ease up and not try TOO hard to do the right thing were interesting because he picked that with me too. He’s never met me but he was right. I tend to “try” too much at things rather than just allow them to unfold. [For a while there I was even “trying too hard not to try too hard”! Go figure!] Would be interested to hear your own thoughts about this Des. Thanks again.

cameron, do you have videos on learning to shape shots on “Ultimategolfer.com”? Thay would be most helpful in helping us to expand our repoirtoire.
I just purchased a digital camera, so as soon as I learn how to shoot videos I will be keen to post my swing on your site so you’ll can have a chuckle and perhaps offer some guidance at the same time. If my swings look half as good as the above sweet swinger, I will be twice as happy!
    regards, Mike.

I should have added that Des has a nice free flowing swing. Simple action without much complication. When he stops hitting the ground his swing will be ideal

I can do some more vids for you no worries. Have been out of action for a bit with the broken hand but will get something together for you. Feel free to shoot your swing through when you get a chance. Be sure to take footage of you out on the golf course.

Good work here Des. Winning a monthly medal is never easy and I reckon you had a fabulous learning experience too. Next time you’re in this situation I’m pretty sure you’ll play with creativity but maybe not so aggressive. You don’t always need to go for the impressive shot to be playing with flair Well done and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Crayden for the comments. I agree that sometimes we want something so bad that we get in our own way. It’s good to see that I’m not the only one. I can tell you that I applied Cameron’s recommendations on Saturday and in very difficult weather conditions I managed to win the monthly medal. The main key was adding some creativity to my game. Instead of trying to hard to hit the perfect shot, if I felt like the shot needed a draw or fade or low hit into the wind I just trusted it and went for it.However you still have to watch your ego.Everthing was going really well until I got a bit cocky and my course management went walkabout on one hole.I took on the hard shot over a major hazard and paid the price. Not only on that hole but I carried it forward for couple of holes which I was aware of but as you probably know it’s hard to let it go. Cheers, Des

    G’day tribers,
From a golf swing perpective, who do you guys take the most interest in watching? Which players closely resemble the bioswing characteristics?
    Cheers, Mike.

I like watching any player who plays instinctively and without care. Rory Mcilroy was awesome during the US Open and guys like Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson have been playing great golf for a few years now.

Counting down from a chosen number worked great today on the range. Sometimes you just have to ‘go backwards’ in order to send your game forward!
Going to give the trainers a good workout this weekend.
Keep posting, guys, the more the merryer.
    Regards, Mike.
