Less Is More

This is the best way I can think of to describe my golf/coaching philosophy. Less Is More (LIM) – it sums things up nicely.

And the more you get into it, the more you realise it’s possible to get more bang for your buck. Small hinges can move large doors. We can get better results for less effort. It’s what Less Is More is all about and in my mind represents a serious shift in golf learning.

No longer is it good enough to bombard and overload with technical instruction. Golfers need something more profound. They need simplicity that cuts to the heart of learning and performance. It’s no longer good enough to expect to get worse before you get better. Golfers need to demand improvement that makes learning possible meratol and the game fun.

Golf is struggling (just look at the numbers leaving the game) because it’s just too damn hard. Less Is More, in my opinion, makes improvement as simple as it’s ever going to be. It makes learning a better golf game no harder than all those other skills we do day to day,

– walking
– driving
– typing
– cooking
etc

LIM makes golf enjoyable. It helps remove the confusion and all the frustration. It will give you a fighting chance to find that all too elusive A game. It levels the playing field and allows your learning system to master a difficult game.

I’ve finished writing three reports that cover Less Is More in more detail. You can check it out over here.

Vive la revolution! Spot on Cam. The golf teaching industry has just tied everyone up in knots. What should be a perfectly simple activity – hitting a ball with a stick – has become rocket science. When you actually do discover your natural swing it almost makes you laugh (“is that all it is!”) but the laughter soon turns to bitterness at all the wasted years (in my case at least) of listening to “tech talk”. Swinging a golf club the right way FOR YOU is nothing to do with positions and angles, and EVERYTHING to do with rhythm and balance. Focus on the last two and your natural swing will FIND YOU in time. “Less is more” indeed.

      “is that all it is!”

Agree. It’s funny and sad at the same time. You really can feel like a DH for wasting so many years in pursuit if perfection.

” You really can feel like a DH for wasting so many years in pursuit if perfection”

I don’t think its the pursuit of “perfection” per se that is the problem but the way we go about it. We try to MAKE it happen rather than ALLOW it to happen. Big difference in mindset between these two.
