What a day

After about 30 hours of travel I’ve finally made it to North Carolina. I’m over here catching up with a mate and attending a seminar in Chicago next week. I’ll get back to all of the awesome posts soon (getting over a little jet lag at the moment)

Good golfing,

Cameron

@Tim: Mate, I’m not going to be able to play while here. Maybe later in the year. How’s your golf going?

    Grayden,
my brother use to live in albany. PLayed the course about 3 times and is a true test of golf. I remember never having a flat lie except when teeing off. BTW it is a fantastic course right beside the beach.
I’ll have to grab your number, I’ll be heading over in September/October for my nephews 21st birthday. At the moment my brother lives in Freo. So hopefully I will be in Perth for a game.
    Cheers Steady
btw had 83 -8 75 net. Enjoyed my round. Great to see you and Lukey making progress.

You remember well !! Yes, the course is built on sand dune country so fairways have lots of undulations. Beautiful thick kikuyu grass though so the ball always sits up.

Absolutely. The more Tribers can play together the better I reckon. Let me know closer to the time if you’re coming and we’ll set something up for sure.
    Cheers Steady.

PS I’ll be pretty happy with 83 in Albany!

    Hi Guys
I am terribly biased but we have a little links course over here called Barnbougle and I rate it among one of the best in Australia. Is actually rated by golfers digest at number 4 in Australia.
    Cheers Lukey

    Hi Cam
Great to see you arrived safely. We are off to the US later this year for our younger son’s wedding. Hope you enjoy your time over there.
Grayden, I looked at a map of AUZ today and it said “largely unexplored” for everything WEST of the eastern coast (just joshen). Have been to WA a couple of times, a lovely place.

Bernie: some of the places I found on Albany golf course over the last 3 days were DEFINITELY “unexplored”! 🙂

Hello again strachs and fellow tribers. Golf is going great and thanks for asking. Still working hard on focusing on routines rather than results because the more I play the more I realise that this is the path to better scores. Post-shot reflection allows me to determine that my bad shots only ever come from not paying automatic or having some type of swing-thought in my head. Still struggle a little with ensuring that I concentrate on a neutral thought (not golf-related) when hitting shots , but am getting better every day. I have found that a good pre-shot and through-the-shot routine helps tremendously with playing automatic and I think other tribers would benefit from practicing with a focus on routine. (Go through your routine then swing-its that simple)

Look forward to coming home in about a month and getting back out to those amazing sand-belt courses

@Timbo: Good to hear from you mate. My advice is don’t work TOO hard on it. Let it happen. I know you like to get things right but trying overly hard is not the right thing to do. It’s not possible for me to tell you exactly how hard you should try but I think you’ll work it out in time. But here’s an example:

Imagine you’re walking to the pub from the footy. You’ve just watched your team have a good win and you’re feeling pumped. On the way to the pub some local kids are kicking a ball in the street – as you approach, the ball finds its way to you. Now think about how much energy and thought you’d apply to kick the ball back to the kids 30 metres away? Would you line up, take your time, pick targets and worry about the result?

This is probably the ideal mindset you should be aiming for. When you get back we can go over this in more detail.
