What Henry said

Henry Ford said,

If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.

I like it. It reinforces my belief that we’ve got to be brave enough to walk our own path – that if you do what everyone else does you’ll get your own version of ordinary. There’s nothing wrong with conforming to the status quo, but the really good stuff happens when you move towards the edge of your comfort zone.

When I was fumbling around, trying to work this golf thing out I had been conforming for years. I practised hard and did all the drills but I wasn’t improving – fair to say I had gotten worse. It wasn’t until I asked myself, “Is there a better way of doing this?” that a different way found me.

If you’re stuck, I can guarantee you’re thinking like everyone else. You might just need to take a deep breath and ask yourself a better question. You don’t need a better version of what you’re doing now, you need something different entirely.

My personal favourite: “Thinking is the hardest work of all which is probably why so few do it”

What Henry said indeed, that’s a quote worth remembering.

    Well said Cameron,

I think too many of us are trying to copy the professionals. Whilst we can certainly learn from them, we are not them or their body types and often can find a better way to gain improvement.

    Cheers
